Biography

Gardening is in his blood!  Born and raised on a tree nursery and crop farm in Southwestern MN, Joel has been planting and harvesting every season he remembers being alive!  He holds a Bachelor of Science from the U of MN in Horticulture Science, and is also a Certified Nursery Professional through the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.  His academic achievements, however, are far surpassed by the knowledge gained through the lifelong lessons in gardening he attended with his Grandma Josephine, and his father "Big" Glen.  His infectious spirit, and outgoing personality, make his media appearances fun and exciting, and most of the time the audience ends up learning a thing or two as well.  Joel twitters and blogs regularly, and has authored several simple guides to gardening, including "A Guide To Straw Bale Gardening."
